And then she dyed it purple!

A friend of mine and I had a girls-date this weekend and dyed our hair. It's been almost 7 years since the last time manic panic has touched my hair. And I felt it was 7 years too long. And I love it. Jeremy says the purple really makes my blue eyes pop.

The colors are Purple Haze and Voodoo Blue by Manic Panic. I'll admit, I'm not too fond of the voodoo blue. It faded during the initial application/rinse and didn't turn out as bright as I had hoped. Next time, I'll remember to buy two boxes of bleach. And to make sure it washed out ENTIRELY before adding the color.

1. One last look at my natural color.  // 2. In the shower cap for 4 hours. // 3. The colors are so bright! //
4. Still some bleach/natural hair color poking through. But nothing a few touchups can't fix.
And for those of you who are curious, a close up of my bird brooch:

I bought this blubird pin, along with another, at Canton. $10 for the pair.
Come to later find out they're Takahashi birds! If they're
original, they could be worth up to $200 a piece. @__@
I saved some of my original hair so that I can later reference what my natural color is. For whenever I finally decide to go back to something natural.

The only down side I've really noticed is that people wont make eye contact with me, nor as they as friendly as I'm used to. I'm a very friendly person and can always draw a smile. So that was a bit of a shocker. But it' ok, I'm over it. My hair is still awesome.

Any way, I hope you appreciate my impulsive hair color decisions!! My family was really polite at Passover sedar last night which was more than I was expecting. Hopefully when my manager comes in tomorrow (he was out today) he likes it too. Hah!

Keep it classy, readers <3

I love it! You totally pull it off. I haven't had crazy, fun hair for eight years now. The last bright colour I tried was pink when I was 18.

I'd love to do something bright again, but I can't afford the upkeep at this point. Ha.

  2. It looks great! I dyed my hair last year, first turquoise and black, then hot pink. I definitely noticed people treating me differently because of it. Oh well, their loss.

  3. Ahhh I love it! I remember when I was rockin' all the cupcake-colored hair (pinks and purples and blues), people definitely treated me differently. Weird looks, more condescension, like I was just a "stupid kid with crazy hair." I also had several run-ins with police for tiny, quota-meeting bullshit things ("Where's your bike light?" "*TECHNICALLY* that's jaywalking so I'm giving you a ticket just to teach you a lesson") in that time frame than I ever did, pre- or post-colored hair. Could have just been my bad luck streak at the time...

And! The first time I dyed my hair pink, my stepmother looked at me in horror and said "WHAT WILL THE NEIGHBORS THINK?" Hahahaha!

But, that all being said, I miss it. Fun hair colors are a blast, and those colors look fantastic on you. All the naysayers can go eat a big ol' turd!

  4. Maaaan it looks amazing! Gotta love crazy hair colours. :D I think I'd definitely lose my mind if I went that long, though! Haha.

  5. Love it! I'm so adding blue to my purple the next time I need to freshen it up.

  6. So gorgeous! And it looks like it's so much fun! Oh and yeah, every time I've done a crazy color to my hair, it seems to turn into a public invitation to talk to me. >.< I'd consider it the only downside, but you're a nice and friendly person, so it seems to be working out well!

  7. Loving the hair dude! ^_^

You may want to try Directions over Manic Panic. I find MP washes out of my hair with very little grab. Directions goes on wet hair rather than dry and I find it lasts so much longer (not to mention... less expensive).

  8. How awesome...

Did you know I used Purple Haze as well on my hair, just in an ombre effect (only because I didn't use two-three things of bleach)? That's okay, we can be twins! ;P

At least for me, everyone LOVES LOVES LOVES my hair. Which definitely sucks for you. I feel bad for saying that. At least know that I LOVE your hair more than mine at the moment.

  9. You look amazing Hunny. Anyone who can't see that, needs a reality check.
