We had a intense ice storm that started last Thursday and finally melted today. Winter in Dallas typically means a high in the 40s, low in the 30s. Seldom does it get below freezing during the day. And yet we had almost a week of freezing temperatures. This led to us taking a day off work and getting "iced-in" for 3 days.
We finally left the house to get some groceries Sunday night as seen by the last photo. But the roads were very scary. There is no, I repeat no slush or snow on the ground. Everything you see in these photos is ice that is frozen solid. Even in the roads - solid ice. And we've been driving on it all week to and from work (a 30 minute drive became almost 2 hours each way).
We watched through seasons 4,5 & 6 of The Big Bang Theory and I got some drawing done. The cats loved looking out the window at the ice, though once I brought it inside couldn't care less. We got on average about 2"-4" of solid ice. Hopefully that's the last of it for a while. I look forward to a weekend of temperatures in the 50s.
Unfortunately we didn't quite survive as all as I said in my Monday post. Jer slipped on some ice and fell down the stairs Monday night and we had to go to the hospital. Nothing was broken. They gave him a shot and a splint for a sprain on his wrist. He's badly bruised up, but doing ok. I guess I jinxed it.
How's the weather been where you guys are?
Any fun snow or ice? I'd love to hear!
