We're trying to buy our first house

One of the most stressful things you can do in your life is buy a house. And that's exactly what I've been trying to do for the last month. Jer and I started this process almost a year ago. And back in October went through a pretty lengthy process of getting our credit in order and making everything look pretty for us to pre-qualify. Well we were told that we got pre-approved back in January, 4 months earlier than we were expecting to be. And it's been so overwhelming. I wasn't even prepared mentally to jump into this. And I am so grateful to have many wonderful friends and family come to our aid.

I'm pretty much checked my computer, laptop and phone non-stop for new house listings this last month. Dallas is an extremely competitive sellers market right now.

I hope that once we can get all this stuff sorted out, I'll have fun news to share. At the moment we had to take a break while we work out a snag with a Realtor that's stopped us from buying a house for the time being.

Bare with us while we make this crazy transition into home owners.

Yay!! Buying a house is fun albeit a little stressful. We're in the middle of selling ours and buying another. It's super fun keeping our house super clean with 5 homeschooled kids and #6 on the way. (no, it's not really fun, but I keep telling myself it is.) So it's nice to have someone going through the crazy process at the same time as us! Good luck to you guys.

  2. We bought our first house in June 2013. We began viewing houses around this time last year after already saving a deposit for about a year and a bit before. When we finally found a house we wanted, we put in an offer straight away and it was accepted! It had been on the market for over a year. It was helpful that the Mr had bought a house a few years ago (before we were together), so he knew all the ins and outs of what to do. It is a little stressful but as long as you keep on top of everyone and everything they are doing and when it needs to be done by then in theory it should all go pretty smoothly. We had to keep chasing our solicitors because they were quite old school and wanted to do everything by post (when many do it all online!) but we got there in the end and they were actually pretty good albeit a bit slower than we anticipated! I think from viewing the house to moving in took 10-12 weeks (which is apparently quite short!).
Good luck with the house hunting (that's always the fun part!) and try not to stress too much because it'll all be worth it in the long run. xo
